In 2008 we introduced the Silk Trader Design Award working with RMIT.  Our objective was to contribute to the development of the next generation of Australian textile designers, while further exploring the possibility of producing exciting new ranges in Australia.

The students produced beautiful prints on Silk Trader fabrics, working to our design and production brief with deadlines for fabric development, sampling and production of a display length.  The winner received a cash prize plus the possibility of our buying the design for production.

It has been a rewarding and stimulating process for us, and hopefully for the entrants as well.
